Dashers down Icebreakers 4-2

(MENTOR, OH) - The Danville Dashers defeated the Mentor Icebreakers 4-2 Friday night at the Mentor Ice Arena.

The Dashers opened the scoring just 2:58 into the first period. Logan Hawgood passed out of his defensive zone all the way up the ice to Fred Hein, who put the puck into the net to give the Dashers the lead. The Icebreakers didn't let the lead last long though and at just 1:50 later, the team responded. Blake Nadia took a shot from the faceoff circle, the Dashers goalie got a piece of it,but not enough as it tricked into the net. Mentor took the lead at 17:09 of the first period; it was a powerplay goal. Brody Duncan shot the puck from the blue line and it just got under the glove of the Dasher's goalie. 

Danville ties things up 8:56 into the second period. A 2-1 entry for the Dashers led to Levi Armstrong to scoring. 

The Dashers got the lead 8:33 into the third a power play goal from Jesse Neher. A shot from Justin Brausen went off the back wall and the rebound was picked up and tucked under the goalie by Jesse Neher. The Dashers got their 4th goal on an empty net scored by Jesse Neher. 

The Icebreakers started Jordan Brant in the goal and stopped 27/30 shots faced. The Dashers countered with Harley White, who stopped 35/37 shots faced. The first star went to Blake Nadia with a goal, second star went to Jesse Neher with two goals and third star goes to Logan Hawgood with two assists. 

The Icebreakers will try to bounce back on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. when they once again take on the Dashers.
