The The Lake County Captains and Bowling Green Hot Rods completed their five game series on Thursday night. Heading into the game the Hot Rods had taken the first four games. The fifth game was even worse as the Hot Rods completed the very rare five game sweep with by pounding the Captains 14-2.

The Hot Rods put four runs on the board in the second inning and never looked back as they scored three more in the fourth, two more in the fifth, three more in the sixth and two more in the seventh inning.

Nine of bowling green’s runs came off Captains starter Trevor Foss in five innings. Foss took the much deserving loss and falls to 2-3 with a 5.10 ERA.

Meanwhile, Jose Mujica went six innings for the Hot Rods allowing only one run on five hits and struck out eight. With the win Mujica improves to 8-3 with a 3.40 ERA.

With the win the Bowling Green Hot Rods clinched a second half playoff berth.

On Friday the Captains will start a four game series with the Lansing Lugnuts. The Lugnuts will send Lefty Ryan Borucki to the mound. Borucki is 9-4 with a 2.56 ERA. The Captains will counter with righthander Triston McKenzie. McKenzie is 1-1 with a 3.42 ERA.
