Storm wrestlers fall to Wheeling Jesuit 34-12
The #23 Lake Erie College wrestling team competed in their final dual prior to the Super Region 2 Championships next weekend on Tuesday (Feb. 13) night. The Storm fell to the #19 Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals by a final score of 34-12.

Sean O'Hearon (Albion, Mich. / -) opened the night on the short end of a 3-0 decision against Tyler Warner at 141 pounds. Warner got an early takedown and O'Hearon could not answer with a response.

The Cardinals pushed the lead to 12-0 with wins at 149 and 157 pounds.

Seventh-ranked Nick Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston) fought off a comeback against Tristan Brady at 165 pounds. Vandermeer added three points after Brady tied the match at eight. Vandermeer gave the Storm three points with an 11-8 decision.

Wheeling Jesuit won the next two matches at 174 and 184 pounds.

Chris Droege (Austintown, Ohio / Austintown-Fitch) won at 197 pounds with an 11-3 decision over Chase Logan as Lake Erie closed the gap to 24-6.

The Cardinals won two of the final three matches as they won the dual 34-12. Lake Erie got six points with a forfeit win at 125 pounds.

The Storm will return to the mat next Friday (Feb. 23) and Saturday (Feb. 24) at the Super Region 2 Championships
