Former Wickliffe Blue Devils soccer star Kenney Walker picked in MLS Draft
BY TIMOTHY W. SHIRER SPORTS EDITOR Kenney Walker a 2007 graduate and soccer star for the Wickliffe Blue Devils was taken in the second round of the 2012 MLS Super Draft with 38th pick by the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Walker played one season for the Blue Devils soccer team in 2006 and led them to the State finals. Walker also played one season as the kicker/punter for the Blue Devils football team.
Walker, the son of Mark Walker and Dawn Hoban graduated from Wickliffe in 2007 and went on to college at Louisville to play for the Cardinals.
At Louisville Walker started 20 of 22 games as a freshman. Walker who made an immediate impact for the Cardinals was only one of two freshman to play in every game and had 25 shots on goal.
Walker was redshirted in 2008 due to an injury.
In his sophomore season at Louisville, Walker moved to the backfield and helped the Cardinas defense record a record 13 shutouts.
The former Blue Devils standout started 19 games in his junior year for the Cardinals.
In Walker's final season at Louisville he was third on the team with 16 points. Walker was also third on the team with 24 shots on goal.
Being drafted Los Angeles mean Walker could possibly play with soccer superstar David Beckham.
