Matt Brown movie reviews "Bourne Legacy" MATT BROWN MOVIE CRITIC Bourne Legacy is a story set in the same universe as the Bourne trilogy but revolving around a different character. It stars Jeremy Renner, Edward Norton and Rachel Weisz. I am a big fan of the original Bourne movies. I left the theater disappointed after this one though.
Renner made an admirable attempt to fill Matt Damon's shoes but just fell short. Rachel Weisz plays a good scientist/doctor but this role just had her doing too much screaming. Edward Norton gave a strong performance but he just had a weak character.
The technical parts of the film were decent. The script was average. The plot was acceptable. There was some alright cinematography. The movie definitely lacked the action the other movies had. The fight scenes were brutal and well done but no one really put up a fight against Renner so it lacked real excitement. I was bored some of the film and was thinking it would pay off in the end but I was wrong. There was a lot of build up to an end scene that just did not deliver. No matter how many times they mentioned his name it just did not feel like a Bourne movie. I wish they would have called it something else.
If you are a big Renner fan I think this movie is worth a $5 movie night. Most other people can wait for the rental. I think Bourne trilogy fans may want to wait until its on Netflix. mbrown@lakecounty-sentinel.com or follow us on Twitter @LCSEntertainmnt POSTED 08/16/2012 14:11
