A lot of Browns fans must have watched the Cavaliers season opener Opinion by Timothy W. Shirer I guess the world of instant gratification is not a rumor I guess it really is real. The reason I say this is because after hearing and reading what people were saying only minutes after the Cavaliers lost their season opener to the Toronto Raptors 104-96. The comments by Clevelanders continued the next day. People were saying after one game, that Cavaliers rookie point guard Kyrie Irving was a flop. Irving was drafted number 1 overall in the June 2011 NBA draft.
It got me thinking, "Who are these people who are saying this?" At first I thought, they must people who really didn't know a lot about basketball. Maybe they were just watching because they saw the stories about him on the news and they wanted to see what the hype was all about. That would have made sense if they didn't really know who he was. He did not look great in the opener.
Then as I read more comments and heard more of these people, some of them at least seemed like they watched sports regularly. But the more I listened, the dumber they sounded.
I thought how could anyone, judge a player on one game, in any sport. It's one game. Most people who are familiar with the NBA believe Irving will be fine and have a good career.
As I wondered who these people were who judge so quickly a guy after he played one game in the NBA. I thought, maybe they are people who just enjoy being negative. Or maybe they don't like Duke. There are a lot of people in this world that hate Duke because they are jealous of Duke’s winning tradition.
Then I thought there has to be more to it than that. It finally hit me. I mean I don't know why it took me almost 24 hours to figure it out.
The reason so many people are saying that Irving is a flop after one game is..........An awful lot of Cleveland Browns fans watched the Cavaliers opener.
It absolutely has to be the reason for such negativity. I mean what other group of fans on Earth is as quick to turn on a player than Browns fans. There isn't another group on Earth, Kepler 20e or Kepler 20f that is as negative as Browns fans. Also there is no group that feels they know everything, like Browns fans do.
I heard the stories on Monday night that bars around Quicken Loans Arena had a big spike in sales. I mean what goes with Browns fans more than Alcohol? Not much, except beating little kids in Jets jerseys.
So I just wish these negative, lousy, lousy Browns fans would stick with their losing team and leave the other Cleveland teams (teams that actually win sometimes) to the rest of us fans, who actually like to think positive about our teams.
Just stay at your "Factory of Sadness" drink your beer and harass little kids and old people. Leave The Q and Progressive Field to the rest of us, who actually want to enjoy life and don't need alcohol to do it.
