The Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians 2-0 Friday evening from Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. The Indians offense returned to its normal self, giving the starter no run support. Before the game, hitting coach Ty Van Burkleo announced he would sit out the rest of the season due to COVID-19 concerns.. Some news that broke during the game is that the White Sox and Indians will play on Sunday night baseball at 7pm this Sunday.

Luis Robert walked to lead off the bottom of the first for the White Sox . He advanced to third on a single by Yoan Moncada, and then scored on an RBI ground out double play by Jose Abreu. In the eighth, Adam Engel homered off of Nick Wittgren, which made it 2-0. This ended up being the final score.

Aaron Civale in no way deserved the loss - he went seven innings, allowing five hits and one run, but was the tough luck loser. Dylan Cease was great for Chicago, going five innings and allowing just two hits. The Indians offense once again left a starting pitcher with no run support.

Looking ahead: The Indians and White Sox will play game two of the three-game weekend series tomorrow afternoon at 2:10 pm. The Indians will send Zach Plesac to the mound. He has pitched once against the White Sox this year, where he went eight innings, giving up three hits and striking out 11; he did not get a decision. The White Sox have not announced a starter yet.
