Bullpen pounded Tribe falls to Rangers 11-5

The Cleveland Indians fell to Texas by a score of 11-5 on Monday afternoon at Goodyear Ballpark, as the Rangers plated nine runs in the 8th inning to cement victory and hijack an otherwise efficiently-paced contest that had been tied at 1-1 up to that point.

CF Greg Allen reached based three times in as many plate appearances, picking up a walk and two hits, including his lead-off home run in the first inning. 2B Ernie Clement, a non-roster invitee, added a two-run shot in the 8th, while C Eric Haase doubled home a run later in the same frame. RHP Trevor Bauer made his first Cactus League start, working 3.0 scoreless innings, while notching a pair of strikeouts. Right-handers Jon Edwards, Justin Grimm and Brooks Pounders each followed with a scoreless frame out of the ‘pen, as the Indians held a 1-0 lead entering the 7th.

On Tuesday, the Indians will travel across town to take on the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale at 1:10 MT/3:10 PM ET. LHP SamHentges will make his first start of the spring against LHP Kyke Freeland for the Rockies. The game can be heard on Indians.com.
