The Lake County Captains and Kane County Cougars played game two of their three game series on Thursday. Things however did not end well as the Cougars mounted a ninth inning comeback to beat Lake County 3-1 in front of a nice camp day crowd of 5,158 at Classic Park.

The Captains once again got on the board early in the first inning when Miguel Eladio singled with one out and was driven home when Mitch Longo doubled. Longo was thrown out on the play trying to stretch the double to a triple.

Juan Hillman was on the mound for Lake County Lake County and he went eight brilliant innings in a good old fashion pitcher’s duel. Hillman's control was nearly perfect as he threw 93 pitches and 64 were strikes, but did not factor in the decision.
Kane County starter Emilio Vargas was also very good as he went six innings allowing only the one run on three hits. He issued two base on balls and struck out five Captains.

Things went bad in the ninth inning when Ryder Ryan entered the game. Ryan recorded the first out on a ground ball, disaster ensued from that point on as Ryan allowed a single to Anfernee Grier. Grier then stole second base. Ryan then issued a base on balls to Seth Spivey. Ryder then allowed a single to Ramon Hernandez to load the base. After striking out Manny Jefferson looking, then came the death blow as Ryan allowed a triple to Luis Silverio, clearing the bases and giving Kane County a 3-1 lead.

Reliver Tyler Mark picked up the win in relief for the Cougars. With the win Mark improves to 5-3 with a 3.18 ERA. Ryan took the loss for Lake County. With the loss Ryan falls to 3-3 with a 4.08 ERA. The blown save was Ryan’s third of the season.
