(CLEVELAND, OH) - Eli Manning threw for three touchdowns, including two to Odell Beckham Jr., as the New York Giants (8-3) sent the Browns (0-12) to their 12th straight loss in 2016 and their 15th consecutive loss dating back to last season, with a 27-13 victory in front of a sparse crowd at First Energy Stadium on Sunday.

Cleveland fell behind when Manning hit Dwayne Harris for a 13-yard score midway through the second quarter and then found Beckham on the Giants next drive for a 32-yard strike that saw Beckham run past the entire Browns defense on his way to the pylon. The Browns were only able to add two Cody Parkey field goals and went into the locker room at halftime trailing 14-6.

Unlike some of the more recent Browns debacles, Cleveland was in the game down just 14-6 still, and looked to be driving towards a game tying score before things fell apart. Following a 54-yard strike to Terrelle Pryor from Josh McCown that got the Browns into Giants territory after starting at their own two-yard line, the offense fell apart. On the play following the long strike, McCown found rookie fullback Danny Vitale who fell down on the screen play for a four-yard loss. Then Alvin Bailey, in at right guard for the injured John Greco, committed a false start penalty to push the Browns back even more. All of this before McCown dropped back, was hit and saw the ball fall into the hands of Giants defender Jason Pierre-Paul who took it 38 untouched yards to pay dirt to extend the New York lead to 20-6.

The Browns bounced back and scored on a five-play, 75-yard drive, when McCown hit a wide-open Corey Coleman for a 21-yard touchdown to make it 20-13, but the Giants were just too much for the Browns tired defense in the game’s final quarter.
Following the Browns touchdown, Manning engineered a six-play drive that took over three minutes off the dwindling clock before he found Beckham for the second time and iced the game with the Giants ahead 27-13.

Manning finished an efficient 15 for 27 for 194 yards and three scores, while Beckham led the Giants with six grabs for 96 yards and two scores. Rashad Jennings led the Giants with 15 carries for 55 yards.

For the Browns McCown was 25 of 43 for 322 yards and one score. Pryor was very good once again in a losing effort as he had six catches for 131 yards, Isaiah Crowell also had six catches adding 47 yards in the air to his 44 yards on the ground on 16 carries.

The Giants travel to Pittsburgh next week to take on the Steelers, while the Browns will get the week off with a much-needed bye week before starting the fourth quarter of their season in Cincinnati on December 11.

DAWG BISCUITS:
Beckham’s two scores gave him his third multiple score game of the season. He would have had three scores if not for a holding call on a punt return that saw him weave his way into the end zone.
Greco left the game with a right foot injury. He was spotted walking out of the stadium on crutches with his right foot on a boot.
Browns left tackle Joe Thomas keeps rolling on. He reached a ridiculous milestone in the second half of today’s game when he was on the field for consecutive snap number 10,000. At the time, he was joined on the line by Spencer Drango, Cam Erving, Bailey, and Austin Pasztor, none of which were starting next to him at this point last season.
Don’t be surprised if Robert Griffin III is the starter on December 11 in Cincinnati. He is progressing well from his shoulder injury and the Browns would like to get a long look at him before heading into the offseason. His youth and uncertainty in what he is, coupled with knowing what they have in the 37-year old veteran McCown and the multiple concussions suffered by rookie Cody Kessler have set the team up with no choice but to get a good look at the former number two overall pick.
