Lake County would have four playoff teams if first computer rankings were the final rankings
Tuesday afternoon the OHSAA released the first high school football computer rankings of 2017 and there are some new faces at the top of the rankings and some familiar faces are missing.
Perry leads the way for teams in Lake County. They are ranked second in Division IV Region 13 with a 8.775 ranking. Mentor is second in Lake County with an 8.000 computer number in Division I Region 1. Kirtland is third the county with a 6.500 computer number in Division VI Region 21. Wickliffe is ranked fourth in Lake County with a 4.350 number in Division V region 17. Rounding out the top five in Lake County is the Lake Catholic Cougars. The Cougars have a 3.750 number in Division II Region 5.
The once mighty Willoughby South Rebels have fallen on hard times and rank last in the County with a 0.000 number and are 27th in Division II Region 5.
An interesting note is that the number one team in Lake County, the Perry Pirates take on the Wickliffe Blue Devils at Perry this Friday. The Pirates have double the amount of points that Wickliffe has and Perry is one Division higher in Division IV, while Wickliffe plays in Division V.
