Captains offense explodes, pounding Bees 10-1

The Lake County Captains bats were silent on Wednesday Night at Classic Park in game two of their series with the Burlington Bees as they lost 4-2.  Thursday night the Captains the bats were loaded as they pounded the Bees 10-1 in front of 1,026 cold fans.

Lake County began the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the third inning and did not let up as they scored multiple runs in four innings in the ball game. 

Captains shirtstop Willi Castro had a huge night as he went 4 for 5 with a double, home run, two runs scored and four RBI.  Lake County center fielder Nathan Lukes also had a nice night at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double and three runs scored.

Lefty Tom Pannone made the start for the Captains and pitched five scoreless innings.  In his five innings of work Pannone allowed four hits, one base on balls while striking out six Bees.  Pannone picked up the win and improved to 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA.  Jose Rodriguez took the loss for the Bees.  Rodriguez started the game and gave up five runs, four earned in three and one third innings.  With the loss Rodriguez falls to 1-2 with a 3.93 ERA.

The Captains begin a three game series with the Peoria Chiefs at 6:30 pm Friday night.  Peoria will send Right hander Ryan Heisley. Heisley is 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA.  The Captains will send their own righty, Casey Shane to the mound.  Shane is 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA.
