(EASTLAKE, OH) - After a 46-minute rain delay to start the night the Captains played game two of their four game series with the Great Lakes Loons. It was Star Wars night at Classic Park and unfortunately for the 5,823 fans in attendance the Evil Empire called the Loons took home the win 8-1.

The Loons struck first in the third inning with three runs off Captains starter Gregori Vasquez.

Great Lakes added to their lead in the fourth inning with another run off Vasquez.

Meanwhile the Captains offense couldn't get anything going against Great Lake starter Jose Chacin. Chacin pitched four shutout innings allowing just three hits, issued one base on balls and struck out three Captains hitters. Andre Scrubb came in relief of Chacin to start the fifth. Scrubb continued the dominance over the Lake County bats.

The Loons tacked on another run in the seventh inning when Zach McKinstry tripled home Ramon Rodriguez who had reached base earlier in the inning on a base on balls. McKinstry had a very nice night the triple was his fourth hit of the night in four at bats. He had two singles a double and a triple.

Finally, the Loons added the final blow in the ninth inning with three more runs. Two of the runs came courtesy of Jared Walker, who belted the two-run shot off Captains reliever Tommy DeJuneas.

The Captains only run came in the bottom of the ninth when Jose Medina singled in Cantu, who had walked earlier in the inning.

Vasquez took the loss for the Captains. Vasquez went six innings allowed four runs, all earned on nine hits and struck out four Loons hitters. With the loss “Vasky” falls to 1-2 with a 3.88 ERA. Scrubb picked up the win for the Loons. With the win Scrubb improves to 3-0 with a 4.64 ERA.

With the loss the Captains fall to 21-28 and are now in sole possession of seventh place (eight teams in the division) in the Midwest League Eastern Division. The Captains are 3-7 in their last ten games and 5-10 in their last 15 games.

The two clubs will play game three of the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 P.M. Southpaw Leo Crawford will be on the mound for the Loons. Crawford is 0-1 with a 1.04 ERA. The Captains will counter with their own lefty Francisco Perez. Perez is 2-3 with a 4.20 ERA..
