On Friday night the Wickliffe Blue Devils were scheduled to play the Fairport Harding Skipper. Due to circumstances out of Wickliffe’s control the Skippers had to pull out of the game. On Thursday morning the Blue Devils Athletic Director Harrison McCall contacted Akron Kenmore-Garfield Golden Rams AD Mike DiFalco and invited them to come up to Wickliffe in place of Fairport to play the Blue Devils. The Golden Rams found the trip rewarding as they defeated the young Blue Devils squad 35-0.

The outcome of the game was apparent pretty early as the Golden Rams took a 22-0 lead into the second quarter. Two of the three Kenmore-Garfield touchdowns in the first quarter came as a result of turnovers by the Blue Devils.

The Golden Rams added two more TDs in the second quarter to make the halftime score which was eventual final 35-0.

Kenmore-Garfield had 236 yards of offense on 24 and their defense held the Blue Devils to 75 yards on 34 plays. Wickliffe through the years has been known for their potent run game, but with injuries and youth it was held to 37 yards on 28 attempts.

Next Friday the Blue Devils travel to Brooklyn to take on the Hurricanes at 7 p.m.
