Captains announce 2018 Field Staff, Luke Carlin to lead team as manager

It's It's always an exciting time for Lake County Captains fans when the Cleveland Indians announce their minor league staffs. Today was that day. The Cleveland Indians announced that Luke Carlin would be the man to lead the Captains field staff as the 13th manager in team history.
Carlin, was drafted in 2002 by the Detroit Tigers in the 10th round and played parts of four seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres and Indians. In Carlin's two stints with the Indians he played 10 games, hitting .286 with two home runs and four RBI.
In 2017 Carlin managed the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a 44-29 record, which resulted in a playoff berth. Carlin spent 2016 on the staff of the Akron RubberDucks.
Jose Torres will serve as pitching coach. Torres is a former first round pick, tenth overall by the Anaheim Angels in 2000.
Pete Lauritson, will serve as the team's hitting coach. Lauritson joined the Indians organization in 2017 and served in the same role with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Lauritson has a degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa graduating in 2002.
Kyle Hudson, will serve as the team's bench coach. Hudson also joined the Indians organization in 2017 and served as the Lynchburg Hillcats (Indians High-A affiliate) bench coach. Hudson was drafted in 2008 in the fourth round by the Baltimore Orioles and made his debut with them in 2011. He played 14 games in the Major Leagues.
The Captains will open their 16th season on April 5th at Classic Park at 6:30 p.m. against the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
