The Lake County Captains and Dayton Dragons finished up their four game series on Tuesday Night at Classic Park. Things turned out as the 2,837 fans in attendance had hoped as the Captains shutout the Dragons 2-0.

The Captains drew first blood as they got on the board in the first inning. With two outs in the frame Juan De La Cruz singled. With Martin Cervenka at the plate De La Cruz moved to second base on a passed ball. De La Cruz then moved to third base when Dayton starting pitcher Jesus Reyes balked. Reyes then walked Cervenka to put men on the corners for David Armendariz who has been on a tear the last few games. Armendariz came through again, in a way as he reached base on a fielding error by Dragons second baseman Brantley Bell, De La Cruz scored on the play, but Cervenka was thrown out trying to move to third on the error.

The Captains added their second run in the fourth inning. With one out Bobby Ison singled. Ison moved to second when Sam Haggerty drew a base on balls. Jose Medina then reached base on throwing error by Bradley, his second of the game and the bases were loaded for Ordomar Valdez who hit a sacrifice fly and Ison crossed the plate with the final run of the game.

Again tonight, the Captains started another pitcher that the Cleveland Indians signed out of an independent league. Tonight the pitcher was righty Trevor Foss. Foss was signed last week out of the Frontier League. Foss was pitching for the Washington Wild Things. Foss made his first start for the Captains on August 4th and had some trouble as he did not locate his fast ball as well as he needed too. In the appearance he gave up five runs all earned in four innings of work. On Tuesday night it was a different Foss. He made the adjustment and pitched six shutout innings, striking out four batters and scattering four hits. With the win Foss improves to 1-1 and lowered his ERA to 4.50.

The Captains will have an off day on Wednesday on return to action on Thursday Night against the Great Lakes Loons in Midland, Michigan at Dow Diamond at 7:05 p.m. Cleveland Indians 2015 first round draft pick righthander Triston McKenzie will make the start. It will be McKenzie's second start. In his first start the big righty struck out 11. McKenzie enters the game with a record of 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA. Yadier Alvarez will make the start for the Loons. Alvarez is 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA.
