Storm slips past Slippery Rock 1-0
(SLIPPERY ROCK, PA) - The Lake Erie College men's soccer team improved to 2-0-0 on the young campaign with a close 1-0 win over the Rock on Sunday afternoon on the road.

"I am extremely pleased with the effort the players put forth today against a very good Slippery Rock University team. The players stuck to the game plan, implemented it to perfection and they were rewarded for their efforts," said Storm head coach Kevin Brenner after the win.

The Storm had a couple of opportunities in the first half but the Rock held the Storm scoreless going into the halftime break.

In the second half, Andrew Bucur converted a penalty kick into the Storm's first and only goal of the game. Bucur went top shelf on the kick for his first goal of the season.

Lake Erie continued to dominate the possession in the second half as they held the Rock to only one shot for the rest of the game. The Storm outshot the Rock 10-2 for the game.

The Storm will open GLIAC play on Friday (Sept. 9) as they play host to Tiffin University.
