Storm shuts out Eagles 1-0
(ASHLAND, OH) - The Lake Erie College men's soccer team worked around a newly rebuild Ashland University Eagles team on Wednesday (Sept. 14) night. The Storm brought back a close 1-0 win and another shutout for the defense.

"A well deserved three points tonight against a very well organized and hard-working Ashland University team. Credit goes to the back four and goalkeeper for preserving yet another clean sheet. It was a bit disappointing that we didn't have the killer instinct and the finishing touch to kill the game off as I felt we had a number of opportunities to do so. Our attention now needs to shift quickly to Northern Michigan on Friday," said Storm head coach Kevin Brenner following the win.

The Storm got their only goal of the game in the first half off of a set-piece. In the 21st minute, the Storm had a corner kick from Ben Phillips (Manchester, England/College of St. Scholastica). Phillips' delivery was on point as Gabriel Ferreira (Cuiaba, Brazil/Rabun Gap Nacoohee School) headed the ball past the Eagles keeper.

The Eagles tried to have some opportunities in the second half to tie the game but was to no avail. Ashland took seven shots in the second half, compared to two in the first half.

Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France/Lycee Bristol) led the Storm in the goal with three saves en route to his fourth shutout of the year thus far.

The Storm is now 4-1 on the year and 2-1 in the GLIAC. They will travel to face Northern Michigan
on Friday (Sept. 16).
