RubberDucks pounded by Curve 10-5
Akron’s Clint Frazier was 4-5, with a three-run homer, but the RubberDucks succumbed to a 16-hit attack by the Altoona Curve and lost a 10-5 decision Saturday night at PNG Field.
Turning Point
The Curve (54-45) scored four times in the fourth inning to blow the game open with an 8-0 lead. After sending eight men to the plate in the third (when they scored three times), the Curve duplicated the feat in the fourth against Akron starter D.J. Brown (10-5). Altoona’s Kevin Newman had an RBI single, Harold Ramirez crushed a two-run triple and Eric Wood added an RBI double.
Winging It
Brown allowed 12 hits and and nine earned runs in 4.1 innings. With the RubberDucks operating with a very thin bullpen, he came back out for the fifth, but gave up a one-out double to Stetson Allie and was lifted in favor of Louis Head. Head allowed an RBI single to Newman to make it a 9-0 game. Head lasted 2.2 innings and gave up one run of his own. Casey Weathers worked the ninth without allowing a run. The Curve were not retired in order in any inning.

Duck Tales
Frazier snapped out of a 1-21 slide with his four hits. He was 4-5 with a pair of singles, a double and a homer. He blasted a three-run home run to left-center in the eighth off Jhondaniel Media. It was his 13th of the year and his 48th RBI. Bradley Zimmer was 2-4 with an RBI. Zimmer also had an outfield assist. Eric Haase homered for the second straight night. He crushed a long home run to center field in the sixth inning off Altoona starter Brandon Waddell (7-5).
