RubberDucks fall to Baysox 5-4

Summary
Bowie’s Joey Terdoslavich doubled, tripled and drove in three runs as the Baysox edged the Akron RubberDucks, 5-4, in the opener of a four-game series Thursday night at Canal Park.
 

Turning Point
Terdoslavich tripled in a pair of runs during a three-run sixth inning for the Baysox against Akron starter D.J. Brown (5-6). Shortstop Adrian Marin followed with an RBI single, and the Baysox had a 5-3 lead.
 

Winging It
Brown rolled through the first three innings in shutout fashion, but gave up a run in the fourth on a Terdoslavich RBI double that tied the game, 1-1. He allowed another run in the fifth, which tied the game, 2-2, and then surrendered three in the sixth to give the Baysox the lead for good. Brown walked only one and fanned six in six innings, but absorbed his third straight losing decision. Grant Sides, Zach McAllister and J.P. Feyereisen each tossed a scoreless inning for the RubberDucks.
 

Duck Tales
Joe Sever was 2-4, with a homer and two RBI. He drove in Akron’s first run with a groundout in the second and drilled a solo shot in the fourth against Brandon Barker (5-4). Luigi Rodriguez socked a solo homer in the fifth to give the RubberDucks a 3-2 lead. It was his first Double-A homer. Jordan Smith was 2-4, with a triple. Ivan Castillo lifted a sacrifice fly in the sixth to pull the RubberDucks to within one, 5-4.
 

Notebook
The RubberDucks (54-52) have lost seven straight games, but remain five games behind first-place Altoona, who lost at Trenton, 6-1, Thursday…Three losses during the streak have been one-run decisions…Barker worked 5.2 innings and gave up four runs on nine hits, but picked up the win for the Baysox (44-59)…Lefty Donnie Hart gave up two hits in the ninth but retired Nellie Rodriguez on a grounder to second to seal the win and pick up his third save…Time of game: 2:53… Attendance: 5,621.
 

On Deck
The RubberDucks will continue the homestand on Friday night at 7:05 with game two against the Bowie Baysox. RHP Julian Merryweather is scheduled to start for Akron, and RHP David Hess is the announced starter for the Baysox.
