The match for the Blue Devils boys was simply a mismatch, even though the Blue Devils did not bowl up to their averages as a team in game one they still dominated as Senior Joe Gamiere, the only bowler for Wickliffe over average, led the charge with a 192 game. Wickliffe took the game 767-673.
Game two for the boys was more of the same three of the five bowlers were under average, but Junior Ricky Bunn had a nice game as he rolled a 211 to boost Wickliffe to a 778-695 win.
The Baker games continued the mismatch as Wickliffe took game one 154-122, game two 135-95 and game three was a little closer as Wickliffe prevailed 136-123.
Bunn led all bowlers with a 366 series for the two games. With the win the Blue Devils Boys improve to 6-2 on the year.
Once again, the Wickliffe girls were led by Senior Susannah Tippin with a 402 series, but Sophomore Haley Boylan was probably the deciding factor in the match as she was 81 pins over average for the two team games with a 305 series. In game one the Blue Devils won 694-652, Boylan was over average 48 pins in the game with a 160. Tippin had a 198 to lead the Lady Devils.
NDCL took game two 678-667, Tippin once again led all bowlers with a 204 in the losing effort, Wickliffe led total pins after the two games by 31 pins.
The Lady Devils took Baker Game One 126-101 to increase their total pin lead to 56 heading into the second Baker Game. Baker Game two was dominated by the Lions as they took down the Blue Devils 151-115 to cut Wickliffe’s total pin lead to 20 pins. The match was now tied in points 3-3 heading to game three. NDCL scored a 123 in the game to secure the game victory before Wickliffe bowled their tenth frame. The ladies Devils opened in the ninth frame and entered the tenth frame with a score of 88, they need a 104 to take the match. The Blue Devils had their team leader Tippin up in the tenth frame. The Senior had a nine spare to start the tenth and needed at least five pins to secure the victory for the Blue Devils on the final ball of the match. Tippin did twice the job as she struck on the final ball of the day to give Wickliffe total pins for the match by five pins and secure the 5-4 match victory. The Lady Devils improve to 4-3 with the thrilling win.
The Blue Devils will be in action again on Thursday afternoon at home against the Brush Arcs. Both the Wickliffe boys and girls will be look for a measure of revenge as they both lost to Brush the first time they faced met in December.
