Tribe shutout by Athletics 1-0

The Indians rallied from a 5-1 deficit to tie the Cincinnati Reds at Goodyear Ballpark on Monday afternoon. C ERIC HAASE (1-for-1, 2RBI, R) tied the game at five apiece with a two-run home run in the 8th inning – his first homer of the spring. The Indians have two ties in 2019 Cactus League play with both coming against the Redlegs.  
 

SS RYAN FLAHERTY (1-for-2) got the Tribe on the board with a solo shot to lead off the 3rd inning, his second home run in as many games (1st HR of spring came on 3/10). 3B JOSE RAMIREZ went 2-for-3 with two doubles, coming around to score on a DH BRANDON BARNES (1-for-2, RBI, R) single in the sixth inning. DH HANLEY RAMIREZ (1-for-2) doubled for the second consecutive day and CF OSCAR MERCADO (1-for-2) recorded another hit and is batting .448 (13-for-29) in 15 games.
 

RHP COREY KLUBER made his first start of the spring, allowing three runs (earned) on six hits and a home run in 3.2 innings of work (BB, 4SO). RHP MIKE CLEVINGER followed Kluber, tossing 2.2 innings (2R/ER, 2H, HR, 2BB, 5SO). RHP ALEX WILSON (1.1IP, BB), RHP ADAM CIMBER (0.1IP, 1H) and LHP BRAD HAND (1.0IP, SO) all worked scoreless outings.
 

The Tribe have a scheduled off day on Tuesday and return to action on Wednesday, March 13 with a split squad against Milwaukee and at Kansas City (1:05PM MT/4:05PM ET). RHP TREVOR BAUER (0-1, 2.45) will face RHP CHASE ANDERSON (0-1, 7.50) of the Brewers, and RHP CODY ANDERSON (0-0, 0.00) will make his first spring start (third appearance) at the Royals. The contest against Milwaukee will be broadcast on MLB.com and the game at Kansas City can be seen on SportsTime Ohio..
