The Lake County Captains and West Michigan Whitecaps played game two of their four game series on Tuesday night.  Things ended just as the Captains fans in attendance wanted as the Lake County rallied in the ninth inning to beat the Whitecaps 5-4

The Captains struck first in the game with on a solo home run by Bobby Ison.  The home run was Ison's second of the year and gave Lake County a 1-0.

The Whitecaps broke through in the top of the sixth inning with three runs of Captains starter Triston McKenzie.  A key play in the inning came with men on first and third and one out and Brett Pirtle doubled to right field and in a very weird incident David Armendariz was glove less at his position in right field on the play that didn't help the situation and the two base runners scored giving the Whitecaps a 2-1 lead.  McKenzie then gave up a double to the next hitter Will Allen and Pirtle crossed the plate with West Michigan's 3-1 extending the lead to two runs.

The Captains struck back in the bottom of the sixth inning when Willi Castro led off the inning with a double.  After the next two captains were retired Armendariz tripled to center field and Castro came home with the Captains second run, cutting the lead to 3-2.

The Whitecaps added their final run in the in the seventh inning to increase their lead to 4-2.

The Captains refused to go away and in the end did not only make it interesting, but came all the way back to win the game with three runs in the ninth inning including the big blow, a two run single by Ison driving in Armendariz with the tying run and Sam Haggerty with the winning run.

The two teams will play game three on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.  Righthander Sandy Baez will take the mound for the Whitecaps.  Baez is 6-9 with a 3.57 ERA.  Micah Miniard will be on the hill for the Captains.  Miniard a righthander is 0-1 with a 5.12.
