Walsh honors Taylor Ceepo and shuts out Storm 3-0

(NORTH CANTON, OH) - On an emotional night where the memory of Taylor Ceepo was alive and well, the Walsh Cavaliers women's soccer team were victorious over the Lake Erie College Storm 3-0 on Saturday night at Milazzo Field. 

Walsh (7-2, 4-0) came with offensive pressure in the first half as they peppered the Storm defense with 18 shots, ten of them on goal. Olivia Peters gave the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 20th minute, assisted by Megan Anderson. The game was 1-0 in favor of Walsh at halftime. 

The women's soccer team presented the Ceepo family with her jersey at halftime in honor of Ceepo's career with the Cavaliers. 

Ceepo passed away while running the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon on May 19th from from sudden cardiac death in association with physical exertion, pseudoephedrine use and cardiomyopathy.  Ceepo had graduated from Walsh just days earlier where she was a member of the soccer team.

In the 65th minute, Maddie Malinowski added a goal on an assist from Ana Bair as Walsh led two-nil.

Four minutes later, Kayla Rance scored and the Cavaliers led 3-0. 

Walsh weathered the Storm as they put up 28 shots, compared to nine for Lake Erie. 

Mickey McClanahan made seven saves in goal for her second straight shutout. 

Walsh will put their four game winning streak on the line on Thursday (Oct. 10) as the Cavaliers will host the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus at 5:00 PM.
