Adu-Poku, Trust Both Named G-MAC Players of the Week

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) After the Walsh Cavaliers football team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 27-24 on Saturday (Nov. 2), the Great Midwest Athletic Conference honored two key players in that win on Monday (Nov. 4) afternoon.

Koby Adu-Poku and Morgan Trust were selected as G-MAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week following the Cavaliers come-from-behind win. 

Adu-Poku totaled 276 all-purpose yards while contributing in all three categories. The junior rushed the ball 16 times for a total of 64 yards on the ground. Adu-Poku and quarterback Nick Gassman connected four times in the game with the Youngstown, Ohio native for 128 yards and two touchdowns. As a kick returner, Adu-Poku had three returns for 85 yards. 

With 2:34 left in the second quarter, Gassman completed a 64-yard touchdown pass to Adu-Poku. Walsh took the lead for the first time as Adu-Poku caught his second touchdown of the night from eight yards out in the third quarter. 

Trust finished with seven tackles in the game, including five solo stops. He added two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on Senior Night. 

The Akron, Ohio native contributed to a defensive effort as the Cavs defense totaled five sacks (a season-high). 

Walsh will go on the road to Alderson Broaddus for final conference game of the year on Saturday (Nov. 9).
