The Fairport Harding Skippers entered Friday night's homecoming game against the Windham Bombers (4-2) without a win at 0-5. It took twenty-one hours from the beginning of the game Friday night at 7 p.m. to finish it off at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon but it was worth the wait as the Skippers are no longer winless, defeating the Bombers 12-0.

The game was suspended Friday night due to lightning with :13 left in the first quarter and never resumed Friday. It was originally scheduled to restart on Saturday afternoon at noon. But there was a snag, the officials were not available at that time. Fairport Athletic Director Sandra Knight worked the phone and was able to secure officials for a 2 p.m. start.

After a scoreless first half the Skippers got on the board when junior quarterback Gabe Lawson completed a 30 pass in the back corner of the end zone to senior Sam Honkala to give the Skipper a 6-0 lead with 8:19 left in the third quarter.

After the Skippers stopped the Bombers on their next drive Fairport was driving down the field on the Windham defense. Lawson threw a pass down the middle intended for sophomore Josh Parsons. The pass deflected off Parsons hands and was intercepted by the Bombers. Parsons was not happy with himself, but redemption was soon on its way.

With the score still very close at 6-0 with 3:57 left in the third quarter junior Zak Hambor blocked a Windham punt near the Skippers end zone Parsons fell on it in the end zone getting redemption for the fluke interception and giving the Skippers a 12-0 lead.

For the remainder of the game Fairport's defense came up big led by Parsons, Hambor, Honkala and sophomore Maverrick Piotrowski to stop every Bombers drive and secure the 12-0 win.

Next week the Skipper's who's playoff hopes are still alive will host St. John at Greig Field at 7 p.m.
