Tuesday afternoon the OHSAA released the first high school football computer rankings of 2016 and there are some new faces at the top of the rankings and some familiar faces are missing.

Lake County schools did very well for the most part the first week led by two familiar faces and one hard charging newcomer.  The Perry Pirates (9.075) are ranked second in Division IV Region 13 and the other familiar face is the Kirtland Hornets (5.095) third in Division VI Region 21.  The newcomer is the Wickliffe Blue Devils (6.025) who are ranked third in Division V Region 17.  The Blue Devils are off to their first 4-0 start since 1998.

Some of the teams missing from top spots that have fallen on hard times are led by the Mentor Cardinals (2.65).  The one time football powerhouse has fallen on hard times and is ranked 14th in Division 1 Region 1.  Also the Lake Catholic Cougars (4.1) another team that is normally highly ranked is ranked only 16th in Division III Region 9.
