(EASTLAKE, OH) – Friday Night was Cleveland Sports History Night at Classic Park where the Lake County Captains celebrate the history of Cleveland Sports. This year truly a night of history. The day began with the Captains parent club the Cleveland Indians announcing that their name would change to the Cleveland Guardians starting with the 2022 season. But more history was to be made during the game as the Great Lake Loons no-hit the Captains bashing the Captains pitching in the 14-0 win.

Daniel Espino made the start for the Captains. Espino was the Indians first round pick in 2019. The night was a rough one for Espino as he went five innings allowing four runs on five hits and issued two base on balls.

The Loons scored two or more runs in four different innings including the ninth inning where they capped the night off with six runs.

The real story of the night was the pitching staff of the Loons. Righthander Clayton Beeter started on the mound for the Loons and pitched the first two innings issuing one base on balls and striking out three Captains. Then came Bobby Miller out of the bullpen. Miller, another righthander was lights out as he struck out seven Captains and issued one base on balls in five innings of work to pick up the win and improve to 2-2 with A 2.03 ERA. Jake Castleberry pitched a clean eighth inning striking out one Captains hitter.
Cameron Gibbens pitched the ninth and getting the final three outs to preserve the no no. Gibbens issued a base on balls while striking out two.

Espino took the loss for the Captains and falls to 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA.

The Captains and Loons will play game five of the six game series on Saturday Night at 7:00 p.m. Landon Knack will be on the mound for the Loons. Knack, a righthander is 4-0 with a 3.23 ERA. Knack was a second round (60th pick overall) pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020. The Captains will counter with Hunter Gaddis. Gaddis is also a righthander and is 2-5 with a 4.69 ERA.
