(EASTLAKE, OH) – On Wednesday night the weather was a little warmer (55 degrees) as the Lake County Captains played the Fort Wayne TinCaps in game two of their six game series. Captains starting pitching stifled the TinCaps offense for the second straight night to come out on top with the 5-3 win in front of 1,190 fans at Classic Park.

Lefty Logan Allen, who was the Cleveland Indians second round draft pick in 2020 out of Florida International made the start for Lake County. Allen followed Hunter Gaddis’s great performance on Monday night with five scoreless innings. In the five frames Allen allowed just five hits, issued two base on balls and struck out seven TinCaps batters.

Meanwhile the Captains offense got started early and continued to add on throughout the game. Scoring single runs in five of the first six innings to take a 5-0 lead after six innings.

Jose Tena, cousin of Cleveland Indians designated hitter Franmil Reyes had a really nice night at the plate going 3 for 4 which included his first home run of the season, three runs scored, one RBI and a stolen base, which was his second of the season.
Raynel Delgado also played a big roll in the Captains offensive success as he went 2 for 4 with two singles and scored a run.

The Captains bullpen had a little trouble in the seventh and eighth innings as they gave up a single run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth to cut the lead to two runs at 5-3. Right hander Nick Gallagher entered the game with two outs in the eighth and closed to door to notch his first save of the season as he pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Allen got the win for Lake County. It was his second of the season improving to 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Allen has yet to give up a run in 10 innings this season allowing only six hits and issuing three base on balls along with 15 K’s. Fort Wayne starter Matt Waldron, a right hander took the loss.
