Indians run win streak to five, shutting out White Sox 7-0

The Cleveland Indians are hot right now. The last five games the Indians have played like the team that was one game away from winning the World Series last year. On Saturday night, the Indians ran their winning streak to five games with a 7-0 shutout of the Chicago White Sox in Chicago. 

The Indians offense used three two run innings (first, fifth, eighth) and capped it off with a single run in the ninth inning. The offensive charge was led by Michael Brantley and Edwin Encarnacion. Brantley and Encarnacion both homered and drove in two RBI and were each 2 for 5 on the night. For Brantley and Encarnacion it was home run number three.

Though Brantley and Encarnacion hit their third home runs each on Saturday night, Jose Ramirez leads the team as he blasted his fifth homer of the season in the ninth innings. Ramirez also leads the team in RBI with 17 through just 17 games.

Meanwhile for the second straight game the Indians starting pitcher was dominate. On Friday night, it was Corey Kluber with the complete game three hit shutout of the White Sox. Tonight, it was Carlos Carrasco's turn. Carrasco went eight shutout innings allowing only three hits, issued one walk and struck out eight. Zach McAllister pitched a clean ninth inning to help preserve the win and shut out.

With the win, Carrasco improves to 2-1 with a 1.65 ERA. Mike Pelfrey started for the White Sox went four and one third innings and allowed four runs, two earned on four hits, he issued one base on balls and struck out on Indians hitter. Pelfrey took the loss and falls to 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA. The start was Pelfrey's first of the season. 

The White Sox and Indians complete the three-game series on Sunday as the Indians go for the sweep at 2:10 p.m. Danny Salazar will take the mound for the Indians. Salazar is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA. Derek Holland will be on the mound for the Sox. Holland is 1-2 with a 4.32 ERA.
