Indians split pair on Friday 

The Indians (10-11-1) split a pair of contests on Friday night, defeating the Texas Rangers in San Antonio and falling to the Cincinnati Reds in Goodyear, AZ.

At the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas, the Indians edged the Rangers by a score of 3-2, as Cleveland's road crew benefitted from a trio a solo homers in addition to an effective start by Danny Salazar, who fanned 9 batters across a spring-high 5.0 innings. Lonnie Chisenhall, Abe Almonte and Erik Kratz all went deep for the Tribe, while Boone Logan (1.0IP), Shawn Armstrong (2.0IP) and Adam Plutko (1.0IP) each turned in spotless performances on a scoreless night for the Indians bullpen.

Back in Arizona, the Indians fell to the Cincinnati Reds, 7-3. Corey Kluber (5.0IP, 3H, 2R, 6SO) pitched 5.0 effective innings as the Indians plated 2 runs in the bottom of the first on a Yan Gomes RBI double and a Yandy Diaz RBI single. The Reds erased a 3-2 Indians lead with a 5-run 7th inning off loser Josh Martin (1.0IP, 5H, 5R/ER), the big blow coming on a 2-run double by Chad Wallach. Nick Goody (1.0IP) and Travis Banwart (2.0IP) recorded scoreless outings.

The Indians will again play another pair of games tomorrow, Saturday, March 18. The Indians will take on the Texas Rangers again in San Antonio’s Alamo Dome at 2:05 PM CDT/3:05 PM EDT. RHP Mike Clevinger will start for Cleveland against RHP Dillon Gee for Texas. The game will be aired on SportsTime Ohio and Indians.com.

  Additionally, the Indians will play the Kansas City Royals in Surprise, Arizona at 1:05 PM MST/4:05 PM EDT. LHP Shawn Morimando starts against LHP Travis Wood for the Royals. The game can be heard on WTAM 1100, the Indians Radio Network and Indians.com.
