The Fairport Harding Skippers Girls Basketball team hosted the Vienna Mathews Mustangs in a hard fought battle right to the end, but came up short to visiting Matthews Mustangs 58-56.

Fairport started the game hot making their shots with ease. The Mustangs on the other hand were cold as ice. The first half was a lot of Fairport doing what they wanted on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball racking up 11 steals in the first half. The score 30-19 Skippers at the half.

The Mustangs coach Steve Sponsler gave it to his team pretty good at the half which seem to ignite a flame under them. The Mustangs then out scored the Skippers 37-26 in the second half to tie the game up with 15 seconds left when they stole the ball and drove down the court to take the lead. Skippers Sophomore Kara McFadden got the ball on the inbound and drove down the court but would not be able to hit the game winner as she was being triple teamed. The final total ended up 58-56
