The 2022 High School Football season opened Friday night at Fairport Harding High School. The Fairport Harding Skippers hosted the Vikings of Akron North who hadn't won a game since October 10th of 2019. It did not change on Friday as the Skippers beat the Vikings 25-0.

The first drive of the game the Skippers did not do much as they would gain very little yardage and had to punt. Akron North then had a decent start to their drive with a 6-yard run then things went South for the Vikings as they had two snaps go over the head of sophomore quarterback Jamere Garrett who himself showed a ton of potential in the game. The Skippers forced a turnover on downs on the Vikings 3-yard line and then on the first play of the drive junior James Gadomski ran the ball in on a 3-yard rush. The extra point was no good and the Skipper led 6-0 as the first quarter clock ticked to zeros.

Much of the same in the 2nd Quarter as both teams turned the ball over multiple times and commit drive killing penalties and an Interception by Skippers senior Zane Malkamaki. The score at the half remained 6-0.

In the third quarter Skippers senior Gabe Lawson threw his first Touchdown pass of the year when he hit Junior tight end Josh Parsons who made an absolutely insane catch after the ball was tipped and then made an even better run to score the touchdown. The two-point conversion was then successfully converted on a run by junior Kevin Castellano who was impressive all night. The 3rd Quarter ended 14-0.

Akron North continued to hurt themselves with penalties in the 4th as they did all game. Unsportsmanlike penalties on both teams effected the game. Out of nowhere on their own 15-yard line Fairport Junior Maverrick Piotrowski broke free for an 85-yard rushing touchdown. The Skippers then converted their second two-point conversion of the game to increase the lead to 22-0. Skippers added one more score on a 30-yard field goal by Malkamaki. Skippers played a great defensive the entire game.

Fairport will be home again next week Against Lisbon David Anderson at 7 pm

Opinion: My prediction for Fairport is that they make the playoffs if they just keep battling every game. My prediction for Akron North is quite the opposite as I believe they will not win a game and that is not because of players, they have plenty of talent. I was on the sideline during the entire game and heard some things from their coaches that coaches should not say about officials or opposing players.
