Captains blown out by Evil Empire on Star Wars Night 8-2

(EASTLAKE, OH) - Saturday night at Classic Park was Star Wars night and the Great Loons were in town. Last night the Captains won a walk off 4-3. Saturday night was a different story as the Loons played the part of the Evil Empire and blew the Captains out 8-2.
The Loons got on the board in the top of the second inning when Captains starter Doug Nikhazy gave up a leadoff home run too Ryan January. It was the first month’s second home run of the season. Then with one out in the inning Joe Vranesh drew a base on balls. After Nikhazy retired the next batter Hector Martinez on a flyball to center field Jonny DeLuca smashed a home run over the field fence to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Loons added a run in the top of the third inning off Captains reliever Damon Casetta-Stubbs when Jorbit Vivas clubbed a pitch over the right field fence giving the Loons a 4-0 advantage.
The Captains responded with a run in the bottom of the third with a run when Angel Martinez doubled. Petey Halpin then singled on a ground ball driving home Martinez pulling the Captains to win three runs at 4-1.
The Loons blew it open in the fourth inning with three more runs off Casetta-Stubbs when Eddys Leonard smacked a three-run homer. The longball was his fourth of the season.
The Captains added their second run in the sixth inning. The Loons then responded with another run in the seventh inning closing out the scoring with the Loons up 8-2.
Michael Hobbs who pitched a clean ninth inning for the Loons picked up the win and improved to 4-0 with a 4.30 ERA. Nikhazy took the loss for the Captains and falls to 0-2 with a 5.29 ERA.
The Captains and Loons will conclude the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm. Nick Nastrini a righthander will be on the mound for the loons. Nastrini is 0-0 with a 3.09 ERA. The Captains will send Tommy Mace to the hill. Mace, a righthander is 0-1 with a 4.59 ERA.
