Indians tie and lose on Saturday

The Indians (10-12-2) played a pair of split squad games on Saturday, falling in San Antonio and playing to a 4-4, 10.0-inning tie in Surprise, AZ against the Kansas City Royals.

In Surprise, Todd Hankins and Richie Shaffer (HR #4) each homered and Shawn Morimando (3.0IP, 3H, 1R/ER, 0BB, 3SO) turned in a quality start. Cody Allen, Carlos Frias and James Russell also recorded scoreless innings in the tie.

In San Antonio, Cleveland wrapped up a two-game series split with Texas at the Alamo Dome, as the Indians fell to the Rangers, 8-4, following Friday's night's win. The Texas victory was keyed by 4 home runs. Chris Colabello paced the Tribe offense with a pair of hits, while Brandon Guyer, Dorssys Paulino, Daniel Robertson and Eric Stamets each drove in a run. Lefties Kyle Crockett (0.2IP, 2SO) and Ryan Merritt (3.0IP, 1R-ER, 3SO) pitched effectively in relief.

The Indians will play the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday, March 19 in Goodyear Ballpark at 1:05 PM MST/4:05 PM EDT. RHP Josh Tomlin starts against LHP Patrick Corbin for the D-Backs. The game will be aired on WTAM 1100, the Indians Radio Network and Indians.com.
